Good Day for Red Sox Fans

So the 3 month circus that surrounded the Red Sox and their Captain/Catcher Jason Varitek is finally over....and he's staying in Boston!!! I could not be happier! He is my favorite Sox player, and I really feel like the team needs him. So he did just come off of the worst offensive year of his 13 season career (all of those years played in Boston, mind you!) he is still the captain and an important part of the franchise! I cannot wait to be in Boston and see them play again!!! 12 days until Pitchers and Catchers (including V-Tek!!:) report for spring training!!!

Erin's 25 Random Things

There's a chain/note/thing going around Facebook right now, and though I tried to ignore it, I eventually gave in! Here are my 25 Random Things in no particular order! (P.S. If you go to facebook to check out my list please note that Adam and I share a page, but these are my random things...I'm sure he'll never actually do a list of his own:)

1. I worked at a science museum
2. where I trained rats to play basketball
3. and played with dry ice and liquid nitrogen on a fairly regular basis
4. I live in NYC and take a ferry to work every day
5. I am a huge sports fan, especially Baseball...Go Red Sox!
6. My husband and I got married in a castle
7. And then took a New England Road Trip for our honeymoon
8. Where I saw my first moose (6 actually!)
9. I hate flying and have only done it 3 times, and once was on my own!
10. I am addicted to chocolate
11. I am deathly scared of heights
12. I hate rollercoasters, but love going to Cedar Point
13. I once lived with 2 other girls named Erin (one even had the same middle name as me)
14. I was a Cheerleader in High School
15. I am obsessed with chapstick (Burt's Bees) and will not live without it
16. I have tendonitis in both of my hips
17. I was a vegetarian for a while in high school and college (but I ate bacon:) and am seriously considering trying it again (and I'll still eat bacon:)
18. I love JCrew and if I could afford it, I would shop there for my entire wardrobe
19. There are 7 different languages spoken in my current preschool classroom (English, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, French, Spanish, Hebrew)
20. I read Self magazine and have been a subscriber for 4 years
21. I do not want to have children, and Adam and I are seriously considereding adoption when/if we're actually ready for a family
22. I would rather sleep an extra 30 minutes than put on makeup in the morning
23. I actually prefer myspace over facebook (my page is personalized and doesn't have to look like all of the other users!!)
24. I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with Adam after our first evening together
25. My favorite color is pink

Bonus: 26. Adam and I's best friends were Carnies from Ireland and South Africa...they were our neighbors and we lived "in the ghetto!" :) We miss them a lot!!!

My long commute home

As many of you know, Adam and I both have crazy commutes to and from work. Most days (Adam has been driving lately) we take a bus, to a boat, to a train and then we walk to our offices. It's not bad all of the time, but no matter what happens there are just a few things that I am straight up tired of! Most of these items listed below are faults and features from the Staten Islanders we commute with....I'll be the first to say...they are a special breed of people.

So, here are a few sights, sounds, and *gulp* smells that I am tired of dealing with on my commute to and from work:

*Fur Coats
*Loud gum chewing
*"Oh My God"
*The F-word used in casual conversation...in front of every word
*High Schoolers
*Pigeons
*The "bing-bong" as the doors of the subway are closing
*The ferry horn
*High Schoolers groping one another
*Twilight and the rest of that book series
*Uggs
*Trash
*Urine and who knows what other bodily secretions (sight and smell!!)
*People not giving up their seats for older/pregger/with children riders
*The music in other people's IPOD's

Few of our friends and families could even begin to fathom what it's like, nor should you want to. There are many days when I miss driving to work, but then again it's also nice to just sit back, read a book, and let someone else get me there. It's also much cheaper, and better for the environment to use mass transit...though not always as pleasant!:)

Trail Mix

I have eaten so much of Target Brands "A Handful of Everything" Trail mix, that I may explode! My belly hurts, but I can't get enough! Dried-sugared fruit, almonds, peanuts, cashews, chocolate....OH MY! The person who invented this fantastic concoction should be awarded a medal:) One more notch on Target's perfect belt!

Winter in Central Park

As overrated as I sometimes think Central Park is, I do have to give it credit for being beautiful, especially with snow covering it. (It's also a great place to take your class full of 3 and 4 year olds when you want to tire them out:)

Saying So Long...

I'm really trying to stay up to date with my posts, but as with most things, I fall misserably short! I have so much to catch my little world up on...

Last weekend was an emotional one for our little family. Our very best friends and past neighbors came to visit us for the last time. This past thursday, they departed Boston for Ireland and then eventually South Africa. We knew they were never going to stay here in the U.S. forever....it's not their home, but we just wish it wouldn't have happened so soon.

As emotional as it was, we had a blast and spent our time together visiting our favorite places including SEA (a Thai place in Brooklyn) and Central Park, and exploring new ones...the Guggenheim Museum. It was one of the best times we ever spent with them. Then on Sunday we bid them a tearful good-bye in Chinatown as they departed on the Bus back to Boston to pick up their dog, Roxy and prepare for their trip home. And we're trying to look on the bright side...Adam and I are looking forward to saving our pennies for a trip to Ireland this summer:)

Sunday blues

Does anyone else think that the weekend ends too damn early!? Don't get me wrong...Adam and I had a fantastic weekend with our dearest friends, but now that it's 3:30 on Sunday afternoon, I'm thinking of all the things I still need to do!!! If only I could have one more day...but would I really use it to get what I need done? Probably not! Right now the laundry is piled up, the fridge is bare, and the Xmas decoration box is sitting waiting to be filled. However, the inhabitants of 80 York Ave are: lounging and talking on the phone, Libbey sleeping on the bed, Maggie sleeping on the couch, and me?...typing and watching the Giants and Philly with no plans of moving anytime soon! Maybe by the end of the day something productive will have taken place here...or maybe not:)
